Shark Attacks in South Africa: Two Swimmers Killed

Mother Killed in Second Deadly Shark Attack

A mother has been killed in the second deadly shark attack to hit the same popular South African beach in just over a week. Kimon Bisogno, 39, was swimming in Plettenberg Bay on Sunday morning when she was attacked by a great white shark. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Two Fatal Attacks in a Week

Bisogno's death comes just days after a 20-year-old man was killed in a shark attack in the same area. The man, who has not been identified, was swimming with friends when he was attacked. He was also pronounced dead at the scene.

Shark Spotters Called In

Following the two fatal attacks, shark spotters have been called in to patrol the waters around Plettenberg Bay. The spotters use binoculars and drones to look for sharks and warn swimmers of any potential danger.

Series of Violent Attacks

The two fatal attacks in Plettenberg Bay are part of a series of violent shark attacks in South Africa in recent months. In December, a 15-year-old boy was killed by a shark in Cape Town. And in January, a 23-year-old woman was killed by a shark in KwaZulu-Natal.

Great White Shark Suspected

In all of the recent shark attacks in South Africa, a great white shark is suspected to be responsible. Great white sharks are one of the largest and most powerful predators in the ocean.
