Oklahoma Wins 2024 Women's College World Series

Kelly Maxwell Named 2024 Most Outstanding Player

Oklahoma has completed its historic four-peat, defeating Texas 8-4 to win the 2024 Women's College World Series.

Historic Victory

The University of Oklahoma Sooners seized a victory over the Texas Longhorns Thursday night, becoming the first NCAA Division I softball team to win four consecutive national championships. The Sooners, who have now won six titles overall, were led by sophomore pitcher Kelly Maxwell, who was named the tournament's Most Outstanding Player.

Maxwell's Dominance

Maxwell was dominant in the circle for Oklahoma, allowing just two earned runs in 23 innings pitched. She also struck out 32 batters while walking only three.

At the plate, Maxwell went 3-for-12 with a home run and three RBIs. She was a key contributor to Oklahoma's offensive attack, which scored 58 runs in five games during the tournament.

Oklahoma's Legacy

Oklahoma's victory is a testament to the program's tradition of excellence. The Sooners have now won more Women's College World Series titles than any other school.

Oklahoma's victory is also a victory for the sport of softball. The Sooners' success has helped to raise the profile of the sport and inspire young girls to pursue their dreams of playing college softball.
